Alexandra

We stopped at the Alexandra NZMCA park for a few days. We went for a drive and were lucky enough to catch the Clyde Dam overflowing — an impressive sight with water thundering through the spillways and mist rising into the air. Just downstream, we wandered over to the remnants of the old Alexandra bridge. Only the pillars remain now, standing like silent stone sentinels in the river, a reminder of how the town once crossed the Clutha. And of course, we couldn’t miss Alexandra’s iconic clock set high on the cliff face, keeping watch over the town and glowing brightly at night. It’s a fascinating mix of old engineering and the raw power of the river.

Roaming

We sold the house and now we're on the move, living full-time in our caravan. Deb and I have embraced a more mobile lifestyle, travelling around New Zealand and exploring new places as we go. With no fixed address, every day brings a new view and a fresh experience — from quiet coastal spots to scenic rural hideaways. It’s a big change from the old routine, but we’re loving the freedom, simplicity, and adventure that come with life on the road.
