Foxton NZMCA

Posted on 6 August, 202520 October, 2025 by Les Grace

Staying at the Foxton NZMCA campground is a bit like camping in the front row of an equine rock concert. The stage? The old racing track, now a morning training ground. The headliners? Dozens of horses, pounding past at dawn with enough horsepower to rattle your coffee mug. It’s not so much a wake-up call…

Stuck… But Not Sorry We rolled in planning to stay just a couple of days — a quick recharge, a bit of peace and quiet, and then back on the road. But like a good pie and a bad habit, this place got its hooks in us. The weather was perfect, the vibes were chill,…

Roaming

We sold the house and now we're on the move, living full-time in our caravan. Deb and I have embraced a more mobile lifestyle, travelling around New Zealand and exploring new places as we go. With no fixed address, every day brings a new view and a fresh experience — from quiet coastal spots to scenic rural hideaways. It’s a big change from the old routine, but we’re loving the freedom, simplicity, and adventure that come with life on the road.

Where are we

We’ve been in the mighty South Island for a couple of weeks now. Visited Kaikoura - had my Crayfish and snuck in some Whitebait (made some fritters). Visited the Hanmer Springs pool a couple of times when we stayed there and now in Christchurch
